This six-week course run over approximately 3 months is designed to extend your knowledge and skills beyond the basics of surface stitchery.

Over the duration of the course you will produce two minor finished items and one major piece – ‘major’ does not mean large,

It will a be a piece that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the skills acquired during the course.

Assessment for the course is timetabled for 9 weeks after the last class session (due to time of year and timetable availability).

The sessions will give you new stitch skills, new techniques and also some embellishment and finishing off techniques.

Week 1: Course Expectations -Fabrics & Threads. Putting designs onto fabric

Week 2: Stitches -Stitch manipulation

Week: 3 Stitches -Wool embroidery

Week 4: Stitches -Colour. Simple tassels

Week 5: Stitches - Construction of a needlebook

Week 6: Couching, spider’s webs, embellishments

Dates: 16/8, 30/8, 4/10, 1/11, 15/11, 29/11, Assessment Date: 31/1/26

Time: 10 am – 3 pm

Skill Level:  It is preferred that students have completed a beginners' class or equivalent.  

Class Fees:  $320 EGV Members

This course is open to EGV Members & other reciprocal Interstate Guild Members ONLY

Kit Fee: $35  (Mandatory - payable at registration) 

The kit will contain all the basic fabrics, threads and materials that you will need over the 6 classes. 

As the course progresses you may need to purchase extra fabric or threads depending on the minor and major projects you decide to produce. Don’t purchase anything prior to the class – most of us already have large stashes of all things embroidery!

(includes all notes, coloured designs and diagrams, various fabric for class subject and processes)
