A relaxing and fun workshop to learn how to make the clothes you love last.
You will learn to repair and embellish your clothing, making them a delight to wear again.
Your Grandparents would have known how to make things around the home and their clothes last by repairing and remaking. In this workshop you will be shown traditional repair skills which enable you to add contemporary flair to patching and darning your clothes.
Mending can become an opportunity for wonderful decoration as well as save money and reduce the amount of clothing going to landfill.
- Visible Mending
You will learn how to use embroidery, appliqué and patching techniques. We cover both visible and invisible methods of mending to ensure you can repair all your clothes.
Stitching is a great life skill which can save you money, save your clothes and reduce your impact on the environment!
You will learn some hand stitching techniques that offer lots of creative possibilities for repairing & enhancing your clothes and household textiles.
- Darning and Needle-felting workshop
You will learn how to use different forms of darning and needle felting.
Before bringing anything that has possible moth issues, please place them in a plastic bag in your freezer for a minimum of 48 hours. This should kill anything still living in your woollens.
Tools and materials including darning mushrooms, needle felting tools, yarn and wool roving are available to use in the workshop.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced stitchers.
