WF11 - Surprise and Delight Yourself (Counterchange Smocking) WF11image

See your work come alive and form shapes and patterns from striped spotted or regular patterned fabrics.

This smocking technique does not require the task of pleating and yet produces most interesting results when it changes colours on stripes, spots or patterns when pleating or gathering with a thread.

Counterchange smocking does not stretch like English Smocking but holds it shape enabling your worked piece to be used in a multitude of styles

Here is a list of ideas you may use. The choice is yours.

A bag, cushion, insert for a girl’s sun dress, coat hanger, tea cosy. You may have another option in mind.

It will be essential to contact the tutor regarding your choice for instructions on fabric required.

The teaching class will be based around the embroidery with extremely clear and simple instructions for construction in a kit booklet.
