MT18 Elizabethan Lion Panel IMG_0114

Maree is teaching TWO versions of this project on the same day. (Larger Project and Smaller Project)

The inspiration for this workshop has come from Maree's love of embroidered animals and plants of the Elizabethan period.  The embroidery is stitched in gumnut yarn silk threads on 55 count Kingston linen.

The panel features a lion stitched in needlelace surrounded by flowers, plants, insects and small creatures.  This workshop is aimed at teaching students the complexities of stitching animals and learning to shape so they look three dimensional and life like.
