CB1 - Pineapple Pleasure in Blackwork (Scissor Fob & Needlebook Project)

(Registrations close 31/12/21)PP_Front_1

This delightful Scissor Fob provides the perfect accessory to complement your favourite pair of embroidery scissors with the matching Needlebook a fine companion. Combining the classic combination of olive green linen and ivory thread, pearl beads and silk ribbon then add that touch of elegance.

The design features a 17th century inspired motif featuring the Pineapple, which was introduced to Europe in 1493 by the intrepid traveller, Christopher Columbus. As a rare, expensive delicacy coveted by the rich and the Royal, a likeness of the pineapple found its way into many of the decorative arts.

Stitched on 28 count Cashel linen the Blackwork is worked in 2 strands of cotton floss and uses the Blackwork repertoire of Back Stitch, Running Back Stitch and Double Running Stitch with whipped Buttonhole for joining seams.

Customise the inner front cover with your own initials to make this piece your very own. A Cross Stitch alphabet is included to assist you. PP_Inside

Finishing techniques include:

  • lacing linen over stiff interfaces, with mitred corner
  • manipulating the silk ribbon and adding pearl beads
  • edging and joining the inner needle page using Buttonhole Stitch
  • weaving the spine of the Needlebook

On completion your Scissor Fob measures 1.75" square and the Needlebook is 4.5" square.

Note: Scissors for display purposes only
