DB11- Aemilia Ars
Aemilia Ars Needlelace
Aemilia Ars Needle lace was resurrected in Italy in 1898, when it was called Punto in Aria di Bologna, known today as Aemilia Ars. Its origin lies in the very old Italian lace of the 15th and 17th century. However, the present Aemilia Ars is simplified and works without the confines of cloth. The lace made from this technique is generally hard wearing and well suited to household linen items whether inserted or as a stand-alone edge or as an entire piece of lace.
This class explores the Aemilia Ars needle lace technique. It is suitable for beginners of needle lace as well as anyone who has participated in learning different needle lace techniques ie Edgings, Reticella. Embroiderers will find this technique extends their stitching experiences.
