The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria is a statewide organisation based in Melbourne with 12 active regional branches. Branch members all have access to Embroidery House and associated benefits, plus they also enjoy their own locally based monthly or weekly activities, classes, exhibitions, excursions, newsletters and more.

Branches have formed strong bonds to learn from and support each other and are thrilled to have published a joint photographic book in 2023 titled 'Together 23'. Copies are at every branch and the EGV library, and we know you'll enjoy seeing our beautiful works.

Each branch invites you to join them at their meetings and gatherings. Experienced members willingly help beginners who are new to embroidery or particular types of embroidery.

Please click on the links below to see the exciting traditional and contemporary activities happening at our branches.

Welcome to our Albury/Wodonga Branch

About us

We are a group of about 60 members and as a group we are interested in many different forms of embroidery and needlework.

We have varying degrees of skills and capabilities and we celebrate the work of all our members.

There are talented members of our branch who are willing to share their skills and experience to teach specific techniques and types of embroidery.

Our group is a friendly, sociable one where visitors are made very welcome.

We run workshops, monthly classes and 'Sit and Sew' sessions.

An exhibition of our work is held every three years.

We hold retreats, where members may choose to stitch mystery projects, as well as occasional excursions.

Having fun and enjoying the company of other like-minded friends are our goals. Please contact us with any enquiries. We’d love to hear from you. 😊

Welcome to our Bendigo Branch
Bendigo009-150x150

Welcome to the Bendigo Branch of The Embroiderers Guild Victoria. We are a large group of likeminded ladies who meet to share our interests and passions in all forms of embroidery. We have a display of members’ work and boutique items each month, as well as upcoming class examples to inspire everyone.

We produce a monthly newsletter ‘Golden Stitches’ listing our events and programs to keep all members informed.

We are all happy to share our skills and knowledge with each other and visitors alike,
so why not come and join us?

Our group was formed out of the 1972 Pen and Needle Group of The Embroiderers Guild Victoria, when our inaugural President, Dorothy Addlem (a Guild Member for over 50 years) met with Phyllis Toy, Mary Cail, Helen Burgess and Marj Orde to form a Guidance Group at the home of Phyllis Toy. By 1982 this group had outgrown the home meetings and moved to an external venue, where it continued to grow. On May 5, 1991 we became a Branch of the Guild and have prospered for more than 30 years.

Classes Planned until the end of 2024:

  1. Friday, August 23rd with Glenda Nichol. Class Code: GN1, Cost: $45.

FREE SURFACE STITCHERY – EMBELLISH A BOX, OR NOT

Participants will be provided with some designs to use their

individual interpretation to create a piece of embellished wool felt to be used to cover a small memento box (I use mobile phone boxes) or incorporate the piece into a bag, cushion or anything else you desire.

  1. Monday & Tuesday, October 21st & 22nd with Di Kirschner. Class Code: DK1, Cost $90 - $100 TBA.

UKRANIAN WHITE WORK

Di is currently developing a sampler just for us to incorporate the two main styles of this whitework embroidery. Ukrainian whitework is a little known technique from areas of the Ukraine. While similar to Hardanger it is different and uses stitches not included in well known stitch dictionaries.

  1. Wednesday, November 13th with Meg Pyburne. Class Code: MP1, Cost $25.

CRAZY PATCHWORK

Sew a crazy patchwork block and then embellish it with stitching. The block will be sewn by hand during the workshop, and then adding embroidery, beading and ribbon work will enhance your work.
