TAG

Textile Art @ the Guild

TAG represents both established and emerging artists under the auspices of the Embroiderers Guild, Victoria.

Through an appreciation of traditional and contemporary techniques, and a love of textiles, we aim to inspire, support, inform and network together.

Our mission will be shared through monthly meetings, exploring creativity and skills, culminating in biennial exhibitions, demonstrating the breadth of excellence in contemporary textile and surface design.

ALL WELCOME.

May Meeting:
June 2 at 7.30 pm in the Gallery, Embroidery House.
Speaker:
Anna Davern
Designer and maker of contemporary jewellery and art objects

Anna is intrigued by the nature of the relationships formed between art objects and the viewer. She is also equally fascinated by the idea of ‘Australian-ness’ and plays with cultural stereotypes to investigate notions of national identity. Anna has tertiary qualifications in jewellery design, teaches, writes, curates and primarily makes jewellery from her studio in Flinders Lane. She exhibits regularly in Australia and overseas, has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards, and has participated in residencies in Australia and Europe
