Annual Exhibition 2018
The annual members’ exhibition was a brilliant display – showcasing the enormous artistic diversity flourishing at The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria. From traditional stitching and embellishment, to contemporary textile artworks, the range of techniques, colour and flare, amazed and inspired the many visitors.
The “All that Jazz” mini Challenge (works no larger than 15 x 15 x 15 cm) prompted entries ranging from the stylishly elegant to the quirkily humorous – with plenty of glitz and gaiety. Congratulations to our winner, Jo-Anne Britt for Deco Gold.
People’s Choice Winners were: Best Reflecting the Theme – Pene de Felice for ‘Les Fureur du Tango’ – an exuberant expression of the roaring twenties in goldwork, inspired by the work of Georges Barbier.
Lynne Stone’s botanical study in thread, ‘Callistemon’, polled the most votes for the Favourite Piece.
Congratulations to all artists.
