The Stitching Club
Every month we play with a new stitch or technique, and a design you can place on to a card. We provide the card and a few extras, and the inclusive cost per meeting is $5.00.
Our next Stitching Club will be on Thursday August 10 from 10am-2pm at Embroidery House. Beth Annett will lead us in exploring flame (or Bargello) stitch, applying it to evenweave cloth in stranded cotton. We will stitch our own rise and fall pattern with our individual choice of coloured threads, to be mounted onto a greeting card. You will need to bring a tapestry needle that you can thread easily with 6 strands of cotton, scissors, a portable light if you have one, and a pencil. 4 shades of 2 or 3 different coloured stranded cotton. Example – 4 shades of pink and 4 of green, or 4 of aqua and 4 of orange/yellow. Start with a very light and a very dark shade, then add two in between that will “grade” with the two chosen colours. Try not to choose consecutive numbers as that won’t be enough contrast. The card is white so we are trying for a good contrast and a “pop” of colour. Evenweave cloth will be provided. All members welcome. Inclusive cost. $5.
No need to book – everyone is welcome.
