We meet our patron, 2016
Thirty members of the EGV met our patron (Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AM Governor of Victoria) and her spouse (Mr Tony Howard) at Government House for morning tea on November 23, 2016. The EGV contingent comprised our President, Board members, branch representatives, and various committee convenors.
After a sumptuous morning tea, an address by our patron, and lots of animated conversation, we were treated with a tour of some of the private and public rooms, and came face to face with many fabulous paintings (courtesy of the National Gallery, Victoria).
The tour, led by Tony Howard, was informative, full of history, humorous, and truly fascinating.
Our EGV reporter took many informal photos of our members, but not one of those photos can be shown here! Each photo showed at least one member looking her absolute worst, and posting any images just could not be contemplated.
In the end there were only two acceptable images:
The first shows past president Ann Denmead and Tony Howard looking at the display of a formal table setting featuring part of the placemat and serviette set made by the EGV and presented to Government House Victoria on the occasion of the 150th year of the State of Victoria.
The second image looks up to the royal apartments (a great image without a single human face!).
