July Classes

Lovers of goldwork rejoice! This month we have a tutor from Russia – Larissa Borodich – to present two classes that offer a new perspective on this age-old technique. Each class is repeated once. As well,  there is a great class for beginners, and  Anne Marie Anderson-Mayes returns for a further class to delight counted thread stitchers.

LB-44 Fabergé Egg. Class 1

Stitch a stunning Fabergé egg, 8.00cm x 12.00cm. The techniques include padded goldwork, pearl embroidery, chip work and appliqué. Create a padded egg with couched gold thread background decorated with appliqué, embroidered with gold cord, pearls, an amethyst, rhinestones and check purl.

This class will be repeated on Monday July 17 and Tuesday July 18

This gorgeous beaded and goldwork initial measures 10cm x 15cm. The ornate initial is embroidered in pearls and check purl. It is then decorated with padded pearl and rhinestones, flower motifs and a stumpwork leaf.

AMAM-49 ‘Anne’ Dress Form Pincushion

Skill level: All levels welcome

This lovely dress form pincushion is created by fully embroidering the overskirt on 28-count linen. Stitches drawn from canvaswork and Wessex stitchery are used to create a design reminiscent of Regency stripes. In this workshop you will learn all the stitches needed to complete the embroidery, how to create your own dress form pincushion, how to stitch together and attach the underskirt and overskirt, and how to add any embellishments you might like to complete the effect. ‘Anne’ stands 21.5cm tall and is a graceful addition to any workroom.

ST-48 Basic Stitches

Skill level: Beginners

This two-day class teaches basic embroidery stitches. You will learn many simple stitches to create very effective and pretty results, and view a variety of items to inspire you to further projects. This class is ideal for the absolute beginner, for those wanting to brush up on forgotten skills, or for someone with a little knowledge of stitching but not sure how to move to the next step.
