February Classes

The importance of social contact and learning new things to stimulate our brains has been well publicised. How long is it since you participated in a class at the Guild? Any member who attends classes will tell you of the enjoyment they get from being a student in a class. Not only do you get the chance to learn a new skill (or brush up on an old one) you get to meet many Guild members and non-members. We are very proud of the level of skills our tutors are able to offer students. We are also very proud to be able to offer exceptional tutors from all areas – Melbourne, country Victoria, interstate and overseas. You will come away from a class with a new set of skills, and even if you only learn one new thing attending the class has been worthwhile – on so many levels!

You will learn double running stitch, back stitch and running back stitch using black stranded cotton before moving on to a touch of Goldwork creating decorative coils in metal thread. Add beads and sequins and our design would not have been out of place in the opulence of the Elizabethan period where the combination of black silk and gold threads was frequently used.
