THE EMBROIDERERS GUILD, VICTORIA is open to all lovers of embroidery and textile art, whether beginners or experts.
Embroidery House, our home in Malvern, is a friendly centre for all members. It has a spacious gallery and dedicated classrooms. It also houses an extensive library and our significant collections of embroideries, lace and historic needlework tools. Embroidery House is open 7 days a week. Visitors and members are always welcome.
Meetings, lectures, classes, exhibitions, monthly displays and guidance groups are also held at Embroidery House.
BENEFITS OF JOINING:
CLASSES: Classes in traditional and contemporary embroidery and textile art from beginner to expert. More advanced classes are offered in Intermediate courses and Master Classes in a variety of techniques, including design. Enjoy preferred entry to classes and discounted class fees.
GUIDANCE GROUPS: Over 30 friendly groups meet monthly in an informal atmosphere at Embroidery House and in private homes. Groups create, learn, and share embroidery skills and ideas.
LIBRARY: Our library houses the largest collection of embroidery related books and magazines in Victoria. Members have borrowing rights.
NEWSLETTER: Members receive our 20+ page monthly newsletter. It includes upcoming classes, Guild activities and articles of general interest.
EXHIBITIONS: Our annual exhibition offers members the opportunity to exhibit their work in our spacious gallery. Special themed exhibitions are held from time to time.
THE COLLECTION: Members have access to the Guild’s outstanding Collection of historical and contemporary embroideries, plus the Lace Collection and the Historic Needlework Tools.
FRIENDSHIP & FUN: Probably most important is that we’re such a friendly lot. Whether you’re outgoing or shy, you’ll make some good friends and find support here. Connections and friendships occur naturally and happily. As far as fun goes, there’s always some activity coming up (examples: Christmas in July, our annual residential retreat, mystery shopping tours). We look forward to meeting you!
