‘Through the Eye of a Needle’ Display at Labassa
The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria has been invited to participate in the National Trust’s Open day at Labassa on Sunday, March 18, 2018.
Guild members have created beautiful embroidered items which have been inspired by the many and varied patterns displayed throughout the house. There will be a gift boutique selling articles made from these designs. Thank you to everyone who contributed an embroidery inspired by Labassa. We now have a lovely array of articles to offer for sale. The photo shows a small selection of goods that will be for sale.
You will be interested to see how these designs have evolved into stitched items which will be for sale in the Drawing Room. Take part in our “Seek and Find” Challenge to see how many of our design sources you can find around the house. Look at it “through the eye of a needle”.
There will be beautiful vintage articles on display in the Dining and Drawing Rooms selected from the Guild’s exquisite Collection. Items such as beaded evening bags, embroidered and beaded garments, christening gowns, table linen, aprons, Asian embroideries and vintage needlework tools will be on display. These items are rarely seen by the public and always create great interest.
If you haven’t yet seen the patterns in the members’ portal on our website, it’s not too late to join in. It would be fantastic if you would like to make an article for sale using the patterns.
