2010 is our 50th anniversary year.
CELEBRATING COLOUR
The panels "Celebrating Colour", displayed on the front fence of Embroidery House, clearly reveal that members of the Embroiderers Guild, Victoria come from every part of our state, as well as just across the border.
These panels, through the richness of colour and stitch, celebrate and proclaim the Guild’s golden anniversary.
Our eleven country branches, together with Melbourne, each embroidered 14 squares (or tiles) using tones and shades of one colour only; metallic gold thread was used where appropriate.
The design sources were many and varied, often drawing on local icons and the environment for inspiration.
The embroidered squares were scanned and the images transferred to metal, creating the colourful fence panels which will brighten Wattletree Road (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) throughout 2010.
