"TEA PARTY"
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Embroiderers Guild, Victoria

A special exhibition at

ARARAT REGIONAL ART GALLERY

Friday January 24 - Sunday April 4

Ararat Regional Art Gallery marks the Embroiderers Guild of Victoria's
50th anniversary with an exhibition highlighting the iconic tea cosy.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is the Guild's precious collection
of tea cosies dating from the mid-19th century to the late 20th century, featuring a range of textile techniques including patchwork, cross stitch, beadwork, needle-weaving, ribbon work and plush work.

Adding further diversity are tea-themed artworks
from the Gallery’s permanent collection and contemporary
sculptural tea cosies by Abi Thompson and Trevor Smith.

A feature of the exhibition will be a major collaborative art installation
in the form an afternoon tea table setting,
created by members of the Guild’s Ararat Branch
using a myriad of textile materials and techniques
.
